and again

well this is the final sketch. A more three-dimensional background was the way to go. Now all I have to do is finish the characters in the foreground. ;)

paperman updated again

As I couldn't find a suitable background for the picture, I decided to try a different approach. A strong perspective. I think it has a lot of potential. It also shows that I should plan my drawings more with thumnails

spirou

Here's a strip that i found on the web from the upcoming album of Spirou (or Robbedoes as I know him). The drawing is offcourse not by myself, but by the great artist currently on the job Munuera. I like Morvan and Munuera's version but the storylines are a bit too science-fictiony for my tastes. I colored it in photoshop. It's not finished though because the tedious way i have to go about those things with a mouse kind of outstretched my attention span.

Ferdinand-Philippe-Louis-Charles-Henri d'Orleans

This is a photoshop caricature of Ferdinand-Philippe-Louis-Charles-Henri d'Orleans. It's based on a painting by Ingres. But the inspiration is Patrick Mate. Check his blog for some really quality painted caricatures. The guy's a genius!

tonal study 01: Buster Keaton

here' a photoshop painting of Buster Keaton. Really just an excercise in tonal values not in likeness.

paperman update

just an update on the previous paper man post. I tried to get something 3-dimensional in the background. I figured i could place the scene in an art gallery, so i put some statues in there. I was looking to place furniture in there but somehow it just didn't seem to fit with the low horizon and the considerable size the paper man has to show. I was also thinking of dropping the columns in the background.

paper man part deux

This is a new painting i'm working on, but i'm not happy with it. I can't seem to get the background to fit in. Should i darken it or is it the perspective? Maybe it's the difference between the two techniques used?
