Ashcan

The ashcan school of artists are a bunch of artist of the NY area who drew and painted city-life. The most famous of them is probably Bellows with his paintingt 'stag at starkey's'. My favorite painting of him is 'New York'.

jean-jacqes Lequeu

These are five self-portraits by jean-jacqes Lequeu (1757 - 1825). Not only was the man a revolutionary architect, he was also a great draftsman who produced numorous lovely and wierd etchings. Check him out.

some backgrounds

These are some backgrounds of my animation. Some of them are more finished than others, but none of them is really done. i'm looking for a way to animate the water of a little creek. I've once seen it done by just using whites shapes on top of the texture. Maybe i can do it that way...

colorsheet

I'm looking for some cool colors for the first scene. Just a first test, trying to find some contrasting skintones. i'll see what works.

Johann lyss

So instead of some of my own stuff. i thought i'd post some great stuff from other people! today's freakishly talented fellow is johann Liss, a german baroque painter who sadly goes unnoticed in a lot of art-history books.

classics!

hello again. so this is another try to get it on the road. These past few months i have been busy working on my end-of-term animationexercise. We have to make a movie of about a minute telling a story. So i decided to do a chambara-movie (a samurai movie for you less nerdy). offcourse as i now realize telling a story in about a minute is sheer impossible. My animatic clocked in around 1 minute 28 seconds. I'm just gonna go for it, knowing it will be disappointing in the end. In a next post i'll put up some stuff from my movie. For now i'll just give you some color ecxercises i've done lately with a mouse in photshop based on some classic and great painting.
